MACY’S PLANS ROLL OUT 0F ITEM LEVEL RFID FOR ALL STORES

By now, you may have read that the first North American chain wide rollout of item level RFID will take place by the end of next year (http://t.co/MbePmEGa).

Macy’s /Bloomingdales has been a leader in this space for the last couple of years and this obviously confirms that RFID is and will continue to have a major impact on their business.   An 850 store rollout is a tremendous investment of capital and there is going to be a huge payout in the end.  Expect to see a sales increase, better inventory accuracy, and lower shrink.  Even more importantly, they will emerge as an Omni Channel retailing leader.  They will be able to ship from their warehouse, from another store and ensure in store pickup, because they are able to physically touch their inventory on a daily and weekly basis.

Now that the first major retailer is initiating their full rollout, where do other retailers stand?  The conversation should be started and hopefully some piloting plans are being initiated.   If not, now is the time to find out more!!  Find out how through a few simple steps, retailers can increase sales, increase inventory accuracy and reduce shrink using item level RFID technology.   Want to start a conversation?  Send me an email to dan@overheer.com and let’s discuss item level RFID in retail.  My name is Dan Sandler and I’m Overheer!!
